The Summer 2018 Texas Childcare Quarterly says a great way to help your kids learn is to play in the mud!
Here are some of the benefits they cite:
- Digging, lifting, and pouring mud builds muscles and helps develop hand-eye coordination.
- Mixing dirt and water (and possibly tempera paint too) helps kids explore science concepts like soil composition, gravity, and even hydraulics.
- Playing with other children creates opportunities to practice language and develop social skills like planning and cooperation.
And besides, playing in the mud is just plain fun! Remember?
So pull out the oldest clothes and go have some fun in the mud! It's great fun, and it's good for your kids!
